The Haunted Hathaways is a quirky, yet likeable, family sitcom presented by Nickelodeon. The storyline revolves around a recently divorced single mother, Michelle Hathaway, and her two daughters, Taylor (12) and Frankie (8). The family moves from The Big Apple to The Big Easy, where Michelle opens up her own bakery. Unbeknownst to them, their new home is already occupied by a family of ghosts. Ray Preston is a single father who, with his two sons, Miles (13) and Louis (9), haunts their beloved home to scare away newcomers. The families square off in a battle for the house.

With neither family being deterred, they reach a truce and finally agree to cohabitate.Unique to the show, is its intent to not focus on the obvious racial and gender differences. Unlike many shows that emphasize diversities and then demonstrate how to make them work, this show ignores the differences and reveals how experience defines the family. This blended family is a mash-up of paranormal and traditional. The trials of teenage angst, tween awkwardness, sibling rivalry and adaptation are given free rein.
Compromise and resolution can always be reached, with a little help from the supernatural, in this entertaining, worry-free family show.
